• This is something which for example PostgreSQL cannot handle! When disk is full, PostgreSQL simply crashes!
  • MySQL does not crash but also is not exactly able to handle this situation without help from outside:
    • server checks every minute if there is enough space on disk to preform writes in current threath
    • if not threath is waiting – and with it also other threaths which perform writes and also do not have space
    • we must either make space on disk or kill all waiting threaths
